As a young orphan, he was found and adopted by martial arts master Gouken. He trained alongside Ken who would soon become his fighting rival, surrogate brother and best friend.
Ken
Sent to Japan to learn from martial arts master Gouken, he spent the next 10 years alongside Ryu learning the discipline and craft needed to become a Street Fighter.
Chun Li
M. Bison murdered her father. When she confronted him, he made no apologies and instead attacked her. It was from here on in that she swore her vengeance against him.
E. Honda
He is a fierce warrior intent on becoming the world's greatest Sumo Wrestler. He wants to prove to the world that a Sumo wrestler can be as mighty a fighter as anyone else.
Blanka
As a young boy, he survived a plane crash but never returned to society. For camouflage, he indulged in a steady diet of plant's chlorophyll, causing his skin to turn green.
Zangief
He is a former Soviet Union wrestler. While training for the World Warrior tournament, he developed some of his best-known moves while battling polar bears.
Guile
He is a former colonel in the U.S. Air Force. His friend Charlie was killed in an explosion that M. Bison was responsible for. To honor his friend, he swore vengeance.
Dhalsim
Although a pacifist, he began fighting in order to raise money for his village. His yoga moves and teleportation gives him a unique advantage over his opponents.
Balrog
A former prizefighter banned from boxing for his illegal moves and dangerous style, he joined the crime organization Shadaloo and quickly found work as M. Bison's enforcer.
Vega
His unique fighting style is a combination of ninjutsu and bullfighting. He fights with a sharp metal claw and wears a mask to protect his pretty face from bruising.
Sagat
A menacing 7'4" Cyclops-like giant, he lost his eye while winning the title of God of Muay Thai. His most formidable rival Ryu inflicted the large scar on his chest.
M. Bison
He is a mysterious boss and head of the crime syndicate and military organization Shadaloo. He is responsible for the murder of Chun Li's father and Guile's friend Charlie.
Akuma
A true devil. Signature move is the Raging Demon. Brother of Ryu and Ken's sensei, Gouken. Will only fight worthy opponents and only kill those as strong as him.
Sakura
A 16 year old girl who has an intense fascination with Ryu. Longs for him to train her personally, and once traveled the world just to find him.
Evil Ryu
Ryu after succumbing to "evil intent" - stronger and faster than his normal counterpart, he behaves much like Akuma in his submission to Satsui no Hado.
Blue Ken
Ken trades in his signature red keikogi for something new - but don't be fooled - Blue Ken still packs a powerful Shoryu-ken!
